Intermountain Therapy Animals is a human services organization that brings the gifts of animal companionship and interaction to people in need. ITA is a national leader in screening and training volunteer teams of people with their own companion animals who participate in animal-assisted interactions in a variety of setiings. 

ITA launched The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program in 1999 as the first comprehensive literacy program built around the appealing idea of reading to dogs, and the program has been spreading rapidly and happily ever since!
