Animal Assistance Crisis Response Teams

If your community suffers a crisis the Tails of Joy Animal Assisted Crisis Response Teams are here to help!

Our dedicated volunteer teams have served the community for over twenty years bringing comfort to individuals in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities. We now have a select group of experienced registered therapy dogs and specially trained handlers who are available to provide comfort and support to your community while you recover from a sudden loss or tragedy.

The presence of our friendly, well trained dogs will help to normalize the environment again. The simple act of petting or hugging a dog will help individuals in your community process all that has happened.

Our teams have responded to numerous callouts maintaining a low profile and causing no disruption while offering comfort to individuals suffering the tragic loss of a fellow student, staff member or friend.

Tails of Joy AACRT is prepared to respond in Regions Three and Four of the CT Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection Regional Map and neighboring towns. We look forward to our role as an integral part of a growing statewide effort which will allow for immediate responses across the State with organizations such as Tails of Joy responding within other regions.

TOJ AACRT teams participated in the large- scale Mass Casualty Incident Drill hosted by Windham’s Douglas Manor, providing comfort to the "victims," First Responders from several towns, and the American Red Cross workers.
